Week 1

In the early sections of Adaptable Juliani notes that whatever “happens in the next few months or years, one thing remains true: we will have to be adaptable, as we always are as educators.” He speaks of the importance of building relationships with our students and families. In week 1 you will read the first three chapters and consider how you are building relationships in your classroom.

Read: Introduction and chapters 1-3

Reflect: Post your response to the prompt below by Monday morning.

First, begin by briefly introducing yourself--tell us who you are and what your teaching context is.

The author asks several questions in chapter one about how we use technology to build relationships with students. Choose any of the four questions and share examples you are seeing in your classroom, school, or district:
    • Are you using today’s technology to build relationships?
    • Are you meeting kids where they are?
    • Are you meeting teachers where they are?
Are you meeting families where they are?

Interact: On Monday, read your colleagues' reflections and respond to at least one other post by sharing a comment, insight, or interesting possibility by next Thursday.
